Alex Zaphiris, MD, Care Practice, San Francisco, CA
Dr. Alex Zaphiris is motivated by the deep desire to help people become healthier rather than simply manage symptoms. As a Medical Doctor with extensive training in Integrative Medicine, she specializes in using traditional western medicine along with the best of alternative therapies to help her patients get to the root of the problem.
Dr. Zaphiris brings expertise in both Osteopathic Manual Medicine and Classical Homeopathy to Care Practice. Additionally, she has extensive training in nutritional counseling, neuronutrients and mindfulness and is a current fellow in Dr. Andrew Weil’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship. She focuses on taking the time to listen, collaborating and developing long term partnerships with her patients.
For her formal medical training, Dr. Zaphiris graduated from the UCSF School of Medicine. She completed a Master’s thesis on Osteopathy from UC Berkeley and completed Family Medicine residency at Maine Dartmouth. Dr. Zaphiris is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine. Dr. Zaphiris comes to Care Practice from Whole Family MD in Noe Valley where she practiced integrative medicine for the whole family.
Dr. Zaphiris has taught at the UCSF Integrative Medicine Forum and lectures throughout San Francisco on Integrative Medicine and Osteopathy. She serves as Clinical Faculty at UCSF and Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Osteopathy, Cranial Academy, and the National Center for Homeopathy, as well as local organizations, Mama Resource Network and Mindful Garden. She has staff privileges at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
Dr. Zaphiris graduated from UCLA with Honors and came to medicine after a career in Hollywood as a camera assistant and in post production. She worked multiple films including “Antz,” “Shrek,” and “Austin Powers.”
Care Practice is an Urgent Care Clinic that is open 7 days a week. They have doctors available on Holidays and weekends. The physicians all have extensive experience dealing with urgent medical problems and significant experience working as emergency room doctors and as large volume suburban urgent care physicians.
